seven albums

I have decided to start a new category. Thursdays will now QC7, so it will be still either a question, choice, and now a list of 7 things.
Today, the list is the best 7 albums that I own and think should never be played on random because their original order is so perfect, and the flow between songs makes for a music experience that shouldn’t be tampered with. So, in no particular order:

  1. Simon and Garfunkel, Bridge Over Troubled Water
  2. Dido, No Angel
  3. The Normals, Coming to Life
  4. Sarah Mclaughlin, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy
  5. Johnny Cash, American IV
  6. U2, Achtung Baby
  7. Delirious!, Glo

Honorable Mention:
Larry Norman, In Another Land. Michael W. Smith, i 2 (eye)

I would give a huge, resounding “HOLLA!” to your inclusion of The Normals, “Coming to Life” on your list. SUCH a good album. In fact, I just sort of “rediscovered” it 3 days ago, so it’s a neat coincidence that it’s on your mind as well.

If you like the idea of continuous flow between songs, you should check out Mae, “The Everglow.” I think you would really appreciate both the music and the format. I must say, I’m a little hurt that Petra, “Beyond Belief” wasn’t on your list, but I’ll get over it.

For the record, I like the new category, especially the list part.

glad you like the list and format. I like it too. feel free to add your own 7 too. and yes, i thought about the Petra, but in all honesty, i would have had to put MWS i 2 eye ahead of BB as a better album… don’t worry, BB just might show up on a future list: “songs that shaped my upbringing”.

Josh… great to hear you throw Mae out there. I would recommend their album “Destination: Beautiful” as a great one to just put on and let play through to the last track.

and i was just limiting my list to what i own, so i’ll have to borrow or get the ones you recommend. :)

Kev, you’ve made my day! I was going to say MWS, but I was afraid it would open me up for harsh ridicule. Not only did you hold to your convictions, which I would like to say are dead on, but you also spelled the name of the album correctly, i 2 eye. AWESOME, that’s all I have to say. And it’s true about i 2 eye: it is an AMAZING album.

  6. rockstar Says:

interesting.. so you didn’t think Petra would give you harsh ridicule, but MWS would.
I will say that i 2 eye was the first CD i ever purchased. so, it does hold a special spot in my heart.
you know, with all this talking about MWS, i’m going to edit my list!

How about Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon?

  8. rockstar Says:

sadly, i don’t own that one. I’ve got Pig on LP, but i don’t have a record player anymore… :(
