BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY (1989)
They must think we were born yesterday to believe protesters at the 1972 Republican National Convention donned what appear to be Reeboks (see Tom Cruise’s footwear) a full seven years before they made their U.S. debut.
-

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN (2002)
Con man Frank Abagnale Jr. (Leonardo DiCaprio) swindled millions by posing as a Pan Am pilot, a Harvard-educated doc, and an assistant prosecutor, all before the age of 19 and the year 1969. So why does a FedEx delivery truck (which didn’t exist before 1971) make a cameo?
-

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (1956)
Here’s one more to etch in stone: Thou shall do thy research. Look closely on the back of Bithiah’s (Nina Foch) circa 1500 B.C. frock, and you’ll see a zipper. The dependable closure didn’t make its public debut until the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair.
-

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN (2007)
Perhaps the Coen brothers should have stolen a line from fellow 2007 Best Picture nominee There Will Be Blood, since it looks like Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) could have been drinking your milkshake at nearby Carl’s Jr. (except for the fact that the chain didn’t come to the Lone Star State until several years later).
-

APOLLO 13 (1995)
In her hour of darkness, Barbara Lovell (Mary Kate Schellhardt), the daughter of an astronaut in peril, had words of wisdom from the Beatles album Let it Be to comfort her. Though the single was released in March 1970, the full-length album that she is holding did not go on sale until May 1970 — a full month after this scene was set.
-

AMERICAN GRAFFITI (1973)
Where were you in ‘62? The set designers for George Lucas’ classic cruising movie must have forgotten where they were (and the film’s tagline) judging by the poster for 1972’s movie musical Cabaret visible behind John Milner’s (Paul Le Mat) blazing hot rod.
-

ROB ROY (1995)
Liam Neeson must be stuck on Band-Aid brand since it looks like he forgot to take off the adhesive bandage before filming this scene set in the 18th century Scottish highlands. ‘Cause, seriously, it’s not like Robbie boy went to the Walgreens, right?
