Anyone that has responsibility or authority over another person should not seek to be loved by that person. It might happen, but seeking love from a subordinate can cloud the judgment of the leader.
Examples: Parents and children. Bosses and employees. Pastors and congregations. Teachers and students. Kings and subjects.
While we all need to weigh decisions carefully, one can go too far. This is called indecision. It can drive you crazy and make you very unhappy. Make decisions and don’t look back. (audio)
